Hierarchical Representations for Efficient Architecture Search
نویسندگان
چکیده
We explore efficient neural architecture search methods and show that a simple yet powerful evolutionary algorithm can discover new architectures with excellent performance. Our approach combines a novel hierarchical genetic representation scheme that imitates the modularized design pattern commonly adopted by human experts, and an expressive search space that supports complex topologies. Our algorithm efficiently discovers architectures that outperform a large number of manually designed models for image classification, obtaining top-1 error of 3.6% on CIFAR-10 and 20.3% when transferred to ImageNet, which is competitive with the best existing neural architecture search approaches. We also present results using random search, achieving 0.3% less top-1 accuracy on CIFAR-10 and 0.1% less on ImageNet whilst reducing the search time from 36 hours down to 1 hour.

Hierarchical Structure in Semantic Networks of Japanese Word Associations
This paper reports on the application of network analysis approaches to investigate the characteristics of graph representations of Japanese word associations. Two semantic networks are constructed from two separate Japanese word association databases. The basic statistical features of the networks indicate that they have scale-free and smallworld properties and that they exhibit hierarchical o...
متن کاملSaliency Cognition of Urban Monuments Based on Verbal Descriptions of Mental-Spatial Representations (Case Study: Urban Monuments in Qazvin)
Urban monuments encompass a wide range of architectural works either intentionally or unintentionally. These works are often salient due to their inherently explicit or hidden components and qualities in the urban context. Therefore, they affect the mental-spatial representations of the environment and make the city legible. However, the ambiguity of effective components often complicates their...
متن کاملEfficient Similarity Search for Hierarchical Data in Large Databases
Structured and semi-structured object representations are getting more and more important for modern database applications. Examples for such data are hierarchical structures including chemical compounds, XML data or image data. As a key feature, database systems have to support the search for similar objects where it is important to take into account both the structure and the content features...
متن کاملLearning Hierarchical Compositional Representations of Object Structure
Visual categorization of objects has captured the attention of the vision community for decades [10]. The increased popularity of the problem witnessed in the recent years and the advent of powerful computer hardware have led to a seeming success of categorization approaches on the standard datasets such as Caltech 101 [15]. However, the high discrepancy between the accuracy of object classific...
متن کاملAn Improved Tabu Search Algorithm for Job Shop Scheduling Problem Trough Hybrid Solution Representations
Job shop scheduling problem (JSP) is an attractive field for researchers and production managers since it is a famous problem in many industries and a complex problem for researchers. Due to NP-hardness property of this problem, many meta-heuristics are developed to solve it. Solution representation (solution seed) is an important element for any meta-heuristic algorithm. Therefore, many resear...
